Rivers of Life recently celebrated an official ribbon cutting with the Prior Lake Chamber of Commerce!
Due to restrictions, our event was rescheduled from last fall. We are honored to be the first ribbon cutting of the season! We are excited to be a part of the Prior Lake Chamber of Commerce and look forward to many years of involvement in the community. Thank you to all that attended.
Tips for visiting a loved one with Dementia
Keep Visits Simple
Maintain a quiet, comfortable space to spend time together. Try to limit distractions and noise. Avoid too many tasks or people at once.
Not every visit will be the same. What worked last time may not work again. You may need to adjust your expectations and do different activities.
Your mood affects their mood. Stay calm, even if they are unfairly angry or upset with you. Quality time over quantity of time. Refer to their residence as home and as a positive place.

About me/fun facts: After high school, Luther spent 2 years in the Army and then went on to get his BA in Liberal Arts. He worked for 15 years in the Hennepin County Courts and 23 years in the Bloomington school district as a social worker. He was married to his beautiful wife, Bernice for 60 years. They have 3 sons, and Luther now has 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Why we love Luther: He is our oldest (and wisest!) resident at 94 years young. Although you’d never know it, he will be turning 95 this July! Next time you see him, be sure to check out the latest blinking lights on his walker.
Getting in the holiday spirit! We had fun decorating gingerbread houses-- all while supporting our MN Vikings!
5 o'clock some where? Here is where! Residents Joan, Tricia, and Barbara enjoyed happy hour in the great room. Our friendly staff loved stopping by to join the conversation and make sure everyone got home safe ;) We love our residents!
Wide open, sunlit hallways, high ceilings, thoughtfully designed apartments, green rooms, huge fish tank, caring staff, builders who are building with love in mind for the elderly dementia resident who will live in this beautiful space. Designed with safety and sensory stimulation in mind. A place that will feel like home. Opening in October. Stay tuned!

The fish are getting anxious for friends to be walking by. The ingredients for cookies are in the cupboards waiting for neighbors to bake together! Rivers of Life is truly a special home for your loved one with all the heart and amenities of which one could hope. Join us as we open our doors and celebrate a new kind of memory care community, Rivers of Life.
